We are exploring a contemporary visual language for our version of Shakespeare’s R&J, blending the classical core of Romeo and Juliet with the emotional landscape of real student life today. A single strip of red silk becomes both costume and weapon—transforming with the characters and anchoring our raw, poetic staging. This stripped-down design invites intimacy and resonance, helping modern audiences access the emotional truth of a centuries-old story.

This production features an original score crafted specifically for our version of Shakespeare’s R&J. The music is more than accompaniment.It serves as the emotional spine of the piece, guiding transitions and echoing the tension, repression, and release at the heart of the characters' journey.

Developed by a BIPOC and immigrant-led team, this production reframes a timeless story through lived experiences across cultures. Our reinterpretation brings personal resonance to universal themes, inviting new perspectives on identity, desire, and resistance.
